About the composer:

Marilyn Zupnik began the study of the oboe with her father Robert Zupnik, oboist with the Cleveland Orchestra from 1946-77, and continued with studies with John Mack and Elden Gatwood.  A member of Orchestra London in Canada from 1976-80, she was a member of the Minnesota Orchestra from 1980-2004 where she was featured as soloist in concertos by Bach, Marcello, Haydn, Mozart, Martinu and Ibert.  In addition to Impressions for Solo Oboe, her compositions include Duo for Oboe and Cello and Divertimento for Oboe and String Trio.  
An avid reader of American history, she is the author of a book about the history of American presidential elections, Presidential Challenge.  She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music where she studied with John de Lancie.
