ABOUT THE MUSIC

Runaway Llama Train was inspired by the composer’s experiences as a Llama Trainer in the mountains of Utah, where she prepared llamas to accompany hikers on mountain journeys. “Llama train” refers to the single file line in which the trainers and llamas would travel along the trails. This piece captures the quirkiness of the llamas as well as the slight chaos that seemed to be lurking around every corner.

ABOUT THE COMPOSER

Katie DeLaMare Troy is a cellist and composer whose focus is to bring joy, meaning, and humor to diverse audiences through music. As the 2020 recipient of the President's Award for Excellence in Community Engagement from the Longy School of Music, Katie has demonstrated her commitment to increasing classical music's accessibility through organizing community concerts, performing therapeutic music, and even creating humorous online videos. She received her Doctorate of Musical arts from LSU in Cello Performance with a composition minor in the studio of Mara Gibson.
