This piece is often performed with 4 bassoons and keyboard, but is really a trio (3 bassoons) with a 4th basso part that can be played by bassoon or cello. It may be performed without a keyboard (if all 4 bassoons are used) or with 3 or 4 bassoons with a keyboard.
