ABOUT THE MUSIC
Alegria was composed in the summer of 2024 for Robyn Dixon Costa (English horn) and Anthony Costa (bass clarinet) who, along with pianist Ann Deighton, premiered the work in November 2024. The composition explores the rich timbres of both instruments, providing lyrical moments over an accompaniment inspired by Hispanic dance rhythms. Alegria, which translates from the Spanish to “joy,” will hopefully provide fun and pleasure to both performers and audience members.
