Solo #2, op. 52
for bassoon and piano
by Eugene Jancourt (1815-1901) - French composer and composer
Edited by Bruce Gbur. This work was originally published in 1887. It is cast in a modified ternary form. The opening section is in d minor, and the composer employed a fourth relationship for the "B" section of the work, writing the Andante in G Major. The fourth relationship is emphasized at the conclusion of the piece when Jancourt substitutes a plagal cadence for the more traditional perfect authentic cadence.
