Edited by Bruce Gbur. This Fantasie begines with the solo piano which leads to an introduction reminiscent of a bel canto aria, allowing for a great deal of expressive rubato. A brief cadenza leads to a theme and two variations, followed by another bel canto section in the minor mode. The work concludes with a rondo written as a stylized dance form- in this case a Bolero. The Fantasie is the first of only two known solo works Verroust wrote for English horn.
