ABOUT THE MUSIC
Originally conceptualized as a tone poem on a dream my wife dreamt, the underlying idea morphed into something else. However, as a consequence, the piece nevertheless retains many of those original dreamlike elements. "and suddenly... awake."
COMMENTS ON THE FORM:
Upper partials aligned in tall vertical towers condense and solidfy into their fundamental. A melody comes out. Static, sustained structures start to become periodic; rhythmic; the melody becomes a brief burst of energy & activity. A climax is reached within a matter of seconds and the energy, unable to sustain itself, dies away rapidly - leaving behind only chunks of the distended partials and the deformed theme.
