This fun little duet for oboe and English horn came out of a collaboration between Scottish composer Iain McDonald and Canadian oboist Laura Weaver. The title was Laura’s suggestion. She had recently walked the West Highland Way in Scotland, and the duet’s folk-like rhythms and harmonies brought to her mind kids (‘bairns’ in the Scots dialect) playing in the Scottish Highlands.
