for two celli (or two bassoons)
by A. Barette (18th Century)
Edited by Hannelore Muller. A. Barette (also called Baretti) is probably a brother of the famous poet and author Gioseffo Baretti. He lived in the second half of the 18th century and was a music teacher in Turin. He composed several instrumental works, especially chamber music for cello and several pieces for harpsichord. The present edition was first printed in Paris and Amsterdam in 1770.
The Divertimenti make, in relatively simple technical terms, in both the music and the style, higher demands on the two players than most duets from that time. For their musically perfect reproduction belong, not only their stylish articulation, but also the exact interpretation of the grace notes markings as well as the independent insertion of ornamentation; this is not laid down, but is however, taken for granted by the composers according to the custom of the time.
This edition comes as one book. There are no individual parts.
