ABOUT THE MUSIC
Syrinx was composed for solo flute in 1913 as incidental music for Gabriel Mourey's play "Psyche." The music reflects the story of the Greek mythological figure Syrinx, a nymph who transforms into a reed to escape the pursuit of the god Pan. The piece is known for its fluid, ethereal melodies, and atmospheric qualities.
ABOUT THE ARRANGER
Kris King is a bassoonist and arranger in northern California. He performs with the wind octet nomad session, the wind trio Keyed Kontraptions, and multiple orchestras in the SF Bay Area.
