Dance Suite (score & parts) - OB/VLN/VLA/CEL

Written for Peter Christ and dedicated to Dennis and Barbara St. Amond.

I'll never forget hearing Benjamin Britten's "Fantasy Quartet" for the first time; falling in love with the music, and enjoying the combination of oboe and string trio. The opportunity for me to write for that same combination came when Peter Christ, for whom I had written my Oboe Concerto, asked me to contribute a piece for this recording. Loving dance rhythms, I chose to weave my way through four contrasting styles of dance that have a special appeal for me, each having its own emotional impact. The final one also serves tribute to Mr. Christ, who happens to be of Greek lineage.
