Andante e Rondo Ongarese, op. 35
for bassoon and wind ensemble
by Carl Maria von Weber (1786-1826) - German composer
Weber wrote the original version of the Andante e Rondo Ongarese in 1809 for his brother Fritz, a violist. The arrangement for bassoon took place in 1813 at the request of the Munich court bassoonist Georg Friedrich Brandt (1773-1836), to whom he also dedicated his Concerto in F major Op. 75. The bassoon version was able to prevail in the long run and is an everlasting feat for bassoon students and soloists. This piece is also known as the Hungarian Fantasy for Bassoon, or the Andante and Hungarian Rondo.
Arranged by Christopher Weait (b. 1939) - American composer, bassoonist, and pedagogue. The full instrumentation includes:
- solo bassoon
- 2 flutes
- 2 oboes
- 3 Bb clarinets
- bass clarinet
- 2 bassoons
- 2 Bb trumpets
- 2 horns in F
- tuba
- double bass
- timpani
One copy of each part is included.
