From the composer:
Soap Bubbles is a musical representation of a painting of the same title by Charles-Amedee-Phillippe Vanloo, a little-known but talented French painter. The painting dates from 1764, the piece from 2002. I wrote it for an Art History class project. Different sections in the piece represent the three children and the bubble. The penultimate section, "The Mystery Child" requires an explanation. I saw another painting of the same children by Vanloo, but the youngest was wearing a pink dress and appeared more feminine. So is the child really a boy or a girl? This is still a mystery to art historians everywhere.
