This set of six duets from 1842 reflects upon the transition from the Classical period to the Romantic period and as such becomes slightly less structured in its form and more progressive in its melodic and harmonic structure. Additionally, these are a set of duets with equal parts and not a solo line with an accompaniment as is often found in duets from the Classical era.
