Polaris
for solo oboe
by Pierre Castanet- French composer
Polaris is inspired by the numerical values of the Magical Star. If two toccatas unfold a series of staccatos arranged as a mechanical principle close to perfection, two other tunes, slower, and more poetic are based on the attractive principal of polar notes. The stimulus of the Magical Star and the idea of a polarity of sound give the title to the piece. Written in 1992.
