Ein Musikalisches Snookerspiel
for woodwind octet: two oboes, two clarinets, two horns, and two bassoons
by Gary Carpenter (b. 1951) - British composer Inspired by Mozart's "Eine Musiklisches Wurfelspiel" (A Musical Game of Dice). Mozart's original was written in C Major, but for the sake of tonal variety, each frame is set a minor third higher than its predecessor. The third reverses Mozart's wholly major modality to become a minor variant.
